Burning Bluebeard | Podcast Theater Review

The Ruffians Theater Company with director Halena Kays and choreographer Ariel Triunfo have devised a clever way to tell this story based on an actual tragic event.

“Burning Bluebeard” literally comes alive in front of a scorched proscenium arch on a ruined stage – – depicting the aftermath of an inferno that destroyed the Iroquois Theater in Chicago at the dawn of the 20th Century.

Followers of ChicagoBroadcastingNetwork.com might want to revisit our story about Chief O’Neill the Chicago police chief who is credited for saving Irish Music but was indeed the Chief of Police who in that capacity was one of the first officials on-site at the Randolph Street Iroquois Theater in 1903 and personally carried out a number of lifeless bodies.

“Burning Bluebeard” has become an annual event for The Ruffians Theater Company since the play’s debut in 2011 and is sure to continue to be a perennial Chicago favorite.

On stage through December 27, 2019 at The Porchlight Theater in the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street.  For information visit porchlightmusictheatre.org or call 773-777-9884.
