Chicago Throwback Thursday 1920’s Suburban Train Excursion to Kenosha
This is an interesting film to video of a train ride from Chicago to Kenosha from the 1920’s evidently unearthed from the Huntly Film Archives.
Film equipment was not exactly portable in at this time so this is something of a treasure to see riders enjoy their excursion from downtown through the North Suburbs of Chicago (Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Kenilworth, Highland Park, Waukegan, up to Kenosha, WI) including a snack in the dining car. Look for the still familiar “Ravina Park” sign.
There is some gratuitous addition of native Americans most certainly added to contribute an exotic element to the film if not a rather clumsy nod to the those who preceded the “iron horse.”
