Bicentennial Art Exhibit at Chicago Cultural Center

Bicentennial Art Exhibit at Chicago Cultural Center

This past year we produced a three part video series featuring two Chicago area artists who collaborated to mount an exhibition commemorating the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial. The exhibit took place at the Chicago Cultural Center at Randolph and Michigan downtown.

Sandra Holubow is known largely for painting buildings and for her multi-media cityscape collages that utilize various screens and meshes while Julia Oehmke is primarily a portrait artist with a penchant for Native American people. The two artists conceived of this exhibition specifically because their preferred subject matter is so different.

The first and second videos of the series shows Sandra Holubow and Julia Oehmke each giving us a tour of their respective studios including some insight into their process and plans for the Bicentennial art show. The third video shown here is the final exhibition.

The three videos available for viewing here and on youtube have each been broadcast numerous times on cable station CANTV channel 19/21 in Chicago and will continue to run periodically throughout the remainder of the Bicentennial year.
